We had our sports day yesterday and although the weather forecast was not very promising it turned out to be a fantastic day and the rain only arrived in the afternoon. We hired a large bouncy slide for the day and the children had great fun on it. In the morning the younger classes had their races and the older classes went on the bouncy slide and after little break we switched over. At 1 o’clock Joe arrived to run a basketball blitz with the children from 3rd-6th, it was fantastic and very competitive. We had a great day, well done to all.
Last week we had a very exciting visit from the Boardman family’s speckled hen ‘Shakira’ and her baby chickens. It was great to see the hen and the chicks in school and some of the children even got to hold some of the chicks.
On Wednesday we had our annual music concert. Michael has been taking the 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th class on Wednesdays for music lessons so it was a nice way to finish off the music term. It was a special occasion as it was our first time hosting an event in our new large room and it was great to see so many parents able to make it. Well done to all participants.
Last week was ‘Active Schools Week’. We took part in lots of extra activities during the week and even got to walk to mass twice. We introduced a new initiative in every class, it was sent to us by Laya healthcare and is called ‘Super Troopers’, as part of our homework every night there is different activities to complete. Roscommon swimming pool sent us family passes and they were distributed to all families. Some classes took part in athletics, movement, gymnastics, dancing and other sporting activities during the week. It was great fun.
