We had our annual Sport’s day yesterday. It was a fantastic day for everyone. Ms. Casserly did a warm up with everyone. Mrs. Dervin organised the races, she had short races, long races and fun races for each class. Then in the afternoon we had a bouncy castle and the much anticipated final of the basketball blitz. Joe had organised the blitz over the past few weeks and had also taken all classes to work on their basketball skills. We really appreciate the effort Joe put in to all of this and it was a very enjoyable occasion. Well done to all!
Our school tours this year were very successful. The children in senior infants, 1st and 2nd went to Carrick on Shannon and had a great day out in kidz kingdom, supermacs lunch and the cinema. The children in 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th went to Tayto park and had a great day out there.
Mrs. Dervin and Ms. Stenson brought the children in Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 1st Class and 2nd Class to the playground a few weeks ago. It was a great day out and the weather was lovely. The children brought their lunch and had a picnic and time to play. The children from 3rd & 4th also went to the playground during the nice weather, it is great to have such a lovely facility on our doorstep!
We are very lucky that the Tidy Towns committee have very kindly dug a vegetable plot on our school grounds. Yesterday Michael and Jack showed the children how to sow the vegetables. The garden looks really well and the children thoroughly enjoyed listening to Jack tell them all about growing vegetables. All of the children got to bring home potatoes to plant at home and some lucky children got the left over lettuce, strawberries and cabbage plants. We are looking forward to following their progress!
