We are delighted to inform you that St. Mary’s N.S is 50 years old.
We held a very successful special commemorative weekend in August to celebrate. The school was open for people to come in and look at old photographs, roll books, memorabilia and the school building. There was great interest in the old roll books and past pupils enjoyed looking back on their class groupings and attendance. The photographs also gained a lot of attention and some noted that they could stay for hours looking back on all the photographs on display. There were videos and DVD’s playing that showed football matches, communions and other events over the years gone by.
We were humbled by the very positive feedback from all of our visitors and we were delighted that so many people passed through the school doors over the weekend.
To coincide with our reunion weekend we held a fundraising event at Kilbeggan Racecourse on Saturday 12th and it was there that our monster raffle took place. There was a great turnout of people and it was a fantastic opportunity to reminisce with friends and family on a sunny summer evening.
There was a commemorative mass on Sunday 13th in the Church to mark the occasion where prayers were said to remember pupils past and present and everyone in the wider community.
A sincere thank you to everyone who supported our weekend and fundraising initiative.
